Court records say the charge stems from incident in March of 2022, in which Stevenson left his aunt's home to find the victim. After locating the woman, he approached her dousing with her gasoline he had in a pitcher. He then threw a match on her causing the woman to be engulfed in flames.

The victim was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center where she spent six weeks in the ICU. Investigators say, Stevenson confessed to trying to scare the victim. He has a prior conviction of Voluntary Manslaughter.
