Millions in funding coming to Upstate crime victims

The South Carolina Attorney General was in the area Tuesday morning. AG Alan Wilson announced grant funding for Upstate crime victims. He made the announcement of the grant at Spartanburg Public Library.

The total of grant funding announced 32 million dollars. The Grants will go to state and local agencies, as well as non-profit groups. Wilson said “These state and local agencies and non-profit groups do so much to help people who are going through traumatic circumstances. With these funds, we are able to support agencies throughout the state as they assist victims of violent crime in their recovery."


One of the groups set to receive the funding is the Anderson County based group Foothills Alliance. They are set to receive over $700,000 in grants for child advocacy services. Some of the other Upstate non-profits receiving grants are Beyond Abuse, Child Advocacy Of Spartanburg, Hope Center For Children, and Prevent Child Abuse Of Pickens County.

The SC Attorney General's office says that 98% of the money is coming from federal funding administered by the U.S. Dept. Of Justice.
