SLED is carrying out the prescribed investigation into the officer-involved shooting that killed a shoplifting suspect who was threatening people with a container of gasoline.

Easley Police responded to Tractor Supply on Rolling Hills Circle just before 11:00 AM, Monday morning. Witnesses say the man who had reported the shoplifter followed his car to a house not far from the store. That's where Police say the suspect grabbed a can of gas and was threatening to douse the caller's vehicle with it when they arrived. T

heir report says an officer fired the shot when efforts to de-escalate the situation failed. It's still not clear whether the suspect, a man in his 20s, was armed. His identity is also withheld for now.
