More details have now surfaced concerning Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright taking a leave of absence. Shortly after he announced the leave ,reports surfaced that Wright was under FBI investigation.
The Post and Courier reports that the three former deputies told then they were interviewed by FBI agents. The newspaper says the questioning surrounded around Wright's usage of prescription pain pill usage and his misuse of county funding.
The report says two former deputies told them that Wright asked them for prescription pills. Records also show that Wright charged more than 50 grand on his county funded credit card.
The charges included high end hotel rooms, Apple.com and various restaurants. Wright has also been under a state ethics commission for alleged nepotism after his son was hired by the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office has declined to comment on this story.
