One person is dead and another is injured after a weekend shooting in Western North Carolina. The Haywood County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting near Waynesville, just before 5AM Sunday.
Upon arrival, deputies found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to the hospital, another was pronounced dead at the scene. The Haywood County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Chris Monteith.
No arrests have been announced and no suspect has been identified. The shooting remains under investigation.
