Disbarred lawyer and convicted killer Alex Murdaugh is walking back his "not guilty" plea to federal financial crimes. Murdaugh had pled not guilty to 22 white collar crime charges in May, including conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud and fourteen counts of money laundering.
Newly filed "change of plea" court papers indicate he'll plead guilty a hearing scheduled at the federal courthouse in downtown Charleston September 10th.
Murdaugh is serving two life sentences for the murders of his wife, Maggie, and their 22-year-old son, Paul.
If convicted on all 22 federal counts, Murdaugh would face fines totaling nearly thirteen million dollars and 480 years in prison.
