The Murdaugh murder saga has a new chapter. The double murder conviction against Alex Murdaugh has been overturned by the State Supreme Court. The panel of justices voted 5-0 to overturn the conviction and ordered a new trial.
The justices cited the improper influence of former clerk of court Beck Hill in the original case as the reason for the decision. Hill has since been charged with misconduct and other crimes for her role in the original trial.
Murdaugh is serving two life sentences related to the shooting deaths of his wife and son Paul. He has continuously denied committing murders. As of the time of this report, there's been no date set for the new trial.
