A North Carolina man is charged with murder after police say he stabbed his 5 year old child to death. The Pineville Police Department responded to an apartment complex there, just after 12AM Thursday. Police say, the child's father Jehaaz Akil Echoles who did not live with the child and its mother, broke down the door and forced his way into the apartment.
The child's mother told investigators that Echoles went into the 5 year old's room and then ran out of the apartment. She then found her 5 year old son bleeding and unresponsive. The child was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Echoles was later located in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant and was taken into custody. Echoles is charged with 1st degree murder and is being held in Mecklenburg County.
