A Charlotte woman will spend at least the next quarter century behind bars after pleading guilty to killing her 4 year old daughter.
Malikah Bennett was arrested in May of 2021, after the remains of her 4 year old daughter Migellic Young, were found buried in the backyaard of a home on Braden Drive in Charlotte. Bennett was originally charged with 1st degree murder, concealing a death and felony child abuse.
In the weeks, following the child's body being discovered, it was determined that her mother forced her 13 year old sister to help bury her.
Bennett pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder in a Charlotte courtroom, last Thursday. She faces a minimum sentence of 25 years and a maximum of 31 years.
