A new monument paying tribute to fallen firefighters has been unveiled in an Upstate County. A crowd gathered in downtown Anderson over the weekend, for the dedication of a new memorial to honor firefighters who have been killed in the line of duty.
The memorial includes the names of all the firefighters in Anderson County who died serving their communities. A dozen firefighters around the county have died on the job in the last 100 plus years. Those 12 names are carved into the memorial and leaders around Anderson County say, they hope they never have to add another name to the monument.
