Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrests Seneca man on multiple charges after shooting incident at hotel

(Walhalla, SC) The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a Seneca man earlier today on multiple charges in relation to a shooting incident that occurred at a Seneca area hotel.

49 year old Walter Lee Goodine, Jr., who has listed addresses of Hunter Street and Allen Street in Seneca, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:06pm Wednesday.

Goodine, Jr. has been charged in arrest warrants obtained by investigators with one count each of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Assault and Battery – 1st Degree.

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division were dispatched to the Days Inn, which is located on N. Radio Station Road near Seneca, this morning around 9:25am in regards to reports of a shooting incident.  When deputies arrived on scene, they were given a description of a possible suspect in the shooting.  The deputy located the subject in a parking lot below the hotel.

The subject, identified as Goodine, Jr., was transported to the Oconee County Law Enforcement Center.  Deputies also began the process of gathering evidence in the case.  Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and arrived on scene, along with the Crime Scene Unit.

As the investigation continued, deputies and investigators were notified that a possible victim of the shooting was located in the Emergency Room at Oconee Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Goodine, Jr. stole money and drugs while armed with a pistol, a deadly weapon.  Arrest warrants also state that Goodine, Jr. shot a victim in his right hand while committing the armed robbery.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  At this time, Goodine, Jr. remains in custody at the Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
