Officer saves life with presence and patience. The Greenville Police Department says, Officer Holder helped prevent a tragedy Wednesday when she responded to a person in crisis on the Academy Street Bridge.
Police report that the man was hanging from the bridge and told Officer Holder he wanted to end his life. Rather than rushing him, Holder calmly listened and talked with him for several minutes. Her patience and compassion ultimately convinced the man to climb back over the railing and to safety.
He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. GPD shared on social media how incredibly proud they are of Officer Holder. If you or someone you know is in need of emotional support, reach out by calling or texting the national mental health hotline at 9-8-8.
