Officials confirm touch down of two twisters  in WNC

Officials have confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in WNC during Monday's storms. The National Weather Service says, the 1st twister touched down near Mars Hill just after 7AM.

The tornado was on the ground for about two minutes and had winds of 75 miles per hour. The twister uprooted a number of trees along a path near I-26.


Just minutes later, a 2nd twister touched down about three miles northeast from the first one. The 2nd tornado had winds of about 80 miles per hour. No injuries were reported from either tornado.
