Officials and 1st responders were dispatched to the scene after a train derailment, in the Upstate. The Laurens County Fire Service said in a Facebook post that 1st responders arrived on the scene of a multi-car train derailment, Monday morning. The incident occurred near Cross Hill, just before 5:30AM.
Multiple agencies assisted with the response. Officials say, there were no hazardous materials involved.
Whitten Road was closed at the railroad crossing and the public was asked to avoid the area. No injuries have been reported, as of this time.
