One arrested, one wanted in Gainesville Georgia shooting that killed an innocent bystander...
We previously reported 81-year-old James Edward McDaniel was shot and killed shortly after 7 Wednesday evening, October 14, 2026, in the parking lot of Walmart.
The Gainesville Police Department says a man was arrested early Sunday morning, October 18, 2026, in connection with McDaniel’s death.
Investigators say a confrontation between two groups of males inside the store spilled into the parking lot, where gunfire erupted. 18 year-old Kamari Nehemiah Tilmuth and 17-year-old Erron Lamar Dorsey are accused of opening fire on a group of males.
The elderly victim was on the opposite end of the parking lot when he was fatally struck by gunfire.
Tilmuth has been charged with felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and weapons offenses. Dorsey, of Gainesville, remains at large and is wanted in connection with the shooting. He faces the same charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
