A weekend shooting in the Upstate left one person hospitalized. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office and Wellford Police Department responded to the area of Highway 29 and Thornton Lane in Wellford.
The victim was transported to Spartanburg Regional to be treated. A suspect was detained at the scene, but was later released from custody and was not formally charged.
Police say the victim and suspect are relatives and the shooting appeared to be self inflicted. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident remains under investigation by the Wellford Police Department and Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
