SPARTANBURG, S.C. (August 9, 2021) On August 7, 2021, officers from the Spartanburg Police Department responded to an incident involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred near the intersection of North Forest Street and Blassingame Street.
On August 7, 2021, around 11:50 p.m., officers from the Spartanburg Police Department responded to an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The investigation relieved the victim was walking south on the North Forest when he was struck. It appears he was attempting to cross the street when he was hit. Police and emergency responders arrived on scene where they found the male deceased.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office positively identified the victim as Lorenzo “Peewee” Maybin, age 60 of Cottongwood Drive in Spartanburg.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene. Witnesses stated the vehicle was possibly an older model white truck.
