An early morning house fire prompted a response from firefighters across Abbeville County. Firefighters responded to a house fire on Martin Road in Donalds just before 4AM, Tuesday.

Five different fire departments responded to the scene. Firefighters arrived and found the rear of the house on fire and were able to contain the blaze. No injuries were reported in the incident and several of the family's pets were rescued. Duke Power technicians also responded to the scene.

Officials say smoke alarms installed at the home by the Donalds Fire Department several years ago gave fire crews advanced warning which helped them be able to extenquish the blaze.
