Three people are dead and a fourth is seriously injured after a police chase in Western North Carolina. The chase started in Rutherford County just after 5PM, Friday evening. Police say, the driver who has not been identified fled and was involved in a hit and run crash.The vehicle continued on and police say occupants threw things from the window.
Police say, what they believe to be fentanyl was recovered. The vehicle eventually ran off the road and struck a tree. Two occupants in the vehicle were declared dead at the scene, another died after being taken to a hospital. A 4th person was injured and is said to be in critical condition.
None of the vehicle's occupants have bee publicly identified, at this time. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash. The incident is under review to determine if local police acted with in policies and procedures?
