One person is dead after a weekend plane crash in the Low Country. Thus far, there's been no word on what caused the fatal crash. The FAA says, a single engine Beech BE-35 aircraft crashed into a field about 10 miles from the Orangeburg Municipal Airport.

The plane had left the Low Country Regional Airport and was flying to the Hamilton-Owens Airport in Columbia. Officials say, the crash happened just before 10:30 Saturday morning, but the wreckage wasn't found until just before 2 PM, that afternoon.

After crashing, the plane caught on fire and the pilot suffered fatal injuries. The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office says, the identity of the deceased will not be released until an autopsy is performed Tuesday. There's been no word on the cause of the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
