Police in Western North Carolina say they unexpectedly found a stolen car while serving a warrant on a wanted suspect, over the weekend.
The Franklin Police Department responded just after 8PM Sunday to a home on Riverview Street. While trying to locate the suspect, Matthew Owen Carpenter police found a car that had been reported stolen.
Carpenter fled the home, he was located at an abandoned house nearby and was taken into custody. Carpenter was wanted for failure to appear in court.
He's charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest stemming from Sunday's incident.
