Officials in one Upstate town say that a municipal surveillance camera was destroyed there over the weekend. Leaders in the town of Ware Shoals say, a camera on Beacham Road was decimated and left out of service, Friday night.
The town says, they bought the camera as part of the Verkada surveillance system. Officials in Ware Shoals say the camera was cut down by what seems to be a Sawz-All type tool. The camera was found on the ground close where it had been installed.
The town says, illegal dumping of trash in that area is what led to them installing the camera on Beacham Road. They report that the camera was purchased through grant funding and was intended to help protect the town from the illegal dumping of trash and debris.
Friday's incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been announced, at this time.
