An Electric City Police officer was injured during a welfare check call Sunday afternoon. The Anderson Police Department was called to the intersection of Franklin and Southwood, where a man was standing in that intersection beside his car. When officers approached, the man got in the car and drove away, dragging one of the officers.
The officer was injured, but the injuries were not considered life threatening. The man was later arrested and charged with attempted murder, felony DUI, resisting arrest, assault of an officer, and failure to stop for blue lights.
