Four men on trial in Spartanburg County for what the judge and chief prosecutor called one of the the most horrific crimes they've ever seen, pulled the plug during jury selection Monday to plead guilty as charged. It was the second week of jury selection to hear the case of the 2018 kidnaping and robbery of a well-known Landrum-area storekeeper and his wife.
Jack Corris Foreman IV, Jack Foreman III, Jeffrey Mullins and Da'Juan Young were charged in an eleven-count indictment with the predawn ambush of Warren Willis at his convenience strore, then driving him to the couple's Travelers Rest home where he and his wife, Ann, were both brutally beaten. She was shot twice and left for dead. District Solicitor Walt Wilkins says she underwent fifteen surgeries, flat-lined on the operating table during one of them, and still faces lifelong health problems.
All four of the men were charged with robbery, kidnapping, and attempted murder. Wilkins called Foreman IIi the CEO of the crime. He and Da'Juan Young were sentenced to 60 years in prison. Jeffrey Mullins got 55 and Foreman IV, 45. Nine people were ultimately arrested in the case. Two of those will likely be sentenced later this week; they also pleaded guilty. Three others are charged as accessories after the fact.
