On May 3rd, Gregory Leon Belton was shot and killed in his Anderson home. To this day no arrests have been made and the Anderson County Sheriff's office said Tuesday, they have no solid leads. Sheriff Chad Mcbride held a press conference Tuesday to announce a reward for information. The family of Mr. Belton and Anderson Area Crime Stoppers have partnered to offer a total of $2,000.
Greg Belton's family was on hand Tuesday to attend the announcement of the award. They raised a $1,000 on their own in an effort to help them closure. Anderson Area Crime Stoppers is matching that donation. Belton's nephew Quentin Martin spoke Tuesday and says the family can't yet start the grieving process.
Sheriff Chad Mcbride said he feels that someone out there knows something, that these type of things don't happen in complete silence. Mcbride pleaded with whomever may be responsible to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-247-6327.
