The South Carolina Attorney General's Office is set to prosecute an illegal immigrant who is charged with fatal hit and run in the Midlands.
Last Wednesday, 21 year old University of South Carolina student Nathaniel Baker was hit by a truck while riding his motorcycle in Columbia.
Baker died after being transported to the hospital. The driver later identified as 24 year old, Roseli Fernandez-Cruz was taken into custody. Federal authorities says Fernandez-Cruz has been on a deportation order since 2018.
State Attorney General Alan Wilson says his office is working with ICE to make sure there are no loopholes or way the suspect can escape from justice.
