A sex offender from the Upstate with prior convictions will spend at least the next five years behind bars for his latest offense. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office says, Cherokee County resident Christopher Allen Barber pleaded guilty to a charge of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The charge came from an investigation that was launched after an online tip report in 2021. Court documents say Barber uploaded over two dozen files containing images of child sexual abuse.

The children depicted were as young as six years old. Barber had been previously convicted for possessing files of child pornography. Barber has been sentenced to 10 years but would be eligible for release after five years served.
