The State Senate has voted to approve legislation for open or constitutional carry in South Carolina. The move now has just one hurdle to get over. Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright joined the Charlie James Show Thursday afternoon to give his perspective on the issue.

Sheriff Wright seems to believe that constitutional carry helps with the crime rate, something that proponents of the bill have also claimed. The bill now will go to the South Carolina Statehouse.

If approved, would be sent to Governor McMaster to be signed, and he has indicated he's in favor of the bill. Constitutional Carry would also impose stricter punishment for people who illegally possess guns. The interview with Sheriff Wright is below.
