A suspect is in custody after shots were fired at a standoff in Spartanburg County.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to an eviction notice at a home at the 130 block of Santee Street in Cowpens Thursday morning, where the evictee had barricaded himself inside the home.
According to deputies, the eviction was being conducted normally when the suspect said he needed to return into the home to retrieve his cellphone.
Upon entering the home, civil units report hearing shots being fired, and backup units responded.
Deputies set up a perimeter, and SWAT and negotiators were called in.
The suspect was taken into custody around 11am and was taken to the hospital. The suspect’s condition is currently unknown, but no Sheriff’s Office personnel were injured.
