A suspect is behind bars on multiple charges after a shots fired incident over the weekend at an Upstate home. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of shots fired at a home on Amethyst Lane in Inman, around 11:30 AM Saturday.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the residence belonged to family members of the mother of the suspect's child. Investigators say the suspect, 27 year old Nigerjuan Eliphus Turner of Spartanburg had been in a heated text message exchange with his child's mother that led to Turner learning her location.

The Sheriff's Office reports that Turner drove to the home armed with a semi-automatic weapon and began firing when he arrived. Two of the victim's family members then fired back in self defense. Turner fled in his vehicle, but backed over a culvert which flattened a tire on the vehicle.

He pulled over at the intersection of Olin Drive and Hannon Road to change the tire and texted the victim that he was coming back to her location. Deputies then arrived at the intersection and took Turner into custody without incident and recovered the weapon. He's charged with 5 counts of attempted murder, aggravated domestic violence and a weapons violation.
