In August of 2020, a then 16 year old girl was shot multiple times by the Anderson County Sheriff's Office and bitten by their K-9. The shots were fired after 21 year old, Brian Hamilton had allegedly dragged the girl from a wrecked car into the woods with him after a police chase. The Deputies opened fire thinking they had been ambushed, after Hamilton fired a shot taking his own life. The insurance company for Anderson County decided to pay out a settlement of $700,000 even though a SLED investigation absolved them of wrong doing. So today's question is , should Anderson County's insurance company have paid out?
