In South Carolina, a murder has to be committed for the death penalty to be handed down. In the deliberation of whether to sentence a convicted murderer to death, there are aggravating circumstances. Those things then up the consideration for the death penalty, those factors include criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and sex trafficking. However, a murder has to happen for execution to be on the table. Just last night (Thursday) it was announced that four people were arrested in Spartanburg County for what was described as child torture. I believe heavily and it's always been said, you can judge a society in how they treat and protect their most vulnerable. So today's question is should cases of child case abuse, molestation, and child sex trafficking etc. that do not include a murder, be considered for the death penalty?
Should convicted child abusers, molesters and & sex traffickers be eligible for the death penalty in SC?
