Over the weekend, the NRA held their first convention since the covid pandemic began. The site of the convention was Houston and it was held just days after the tragic mass shooting at an Elementary school in Uvalde, about 250 miles west of the convention site. I was in Houston after the weekend on vacation (coincidental, had planned to be there well ahead of time). I stayed as far away from the George Brown Convention Center downtown as I could. As I was there to spend time with my family and not in a sea of people on opposite sides of gun rights issues. However, there were no reports of major altercations or anything stemming from the protests. Singers like Lee Greenwood and Don Mclean cancelled their advertised appearances at the event. However, the event itself went on and that begs the question- Should the NRA have cancelled in the wake of the Uvalde tragedy.
