The Simpsonville Arts Center has released the schedule for its upcoming theater season after partnering with a new local community theater.
Started roughly a year ago, Clark Nesbitt’s No Dreams Deferred productions unlimited has found a home at the Simpsonville Arts Center, and their first production, Crowns, is set for early October.
“The process of talking with the theater and the theater manager, Melissa Sturgis – the process of us acquiring the theater all happened within a week,” Clark Nesbitt, the group’s founder and artistic director said. “It’s pretty amazing to put up a production in another space and start over in a three month period.”

Nesbitt said his community theater put on this same performance previously before finding a home at the arts center and that this upcoming showing will be better for it.
“Now that we are in a home with lighting and sound and a full stage, we’re able to stage things a little differently,” Nesbitt said. “Previously, we used nine characters. We are sticking strictly to the script with characters this time. We’re using seven characters. And we have a change in a few of the characters as well.”
He explained that he is also looking to bring in local talents, especially from people of color, to provide original musical compositions and production assistance to future performances.
The 2023-2024 mini-season will consist of three total productions, including:
• Crowns – October 6th – 8th and 13th – 16th
• A Raisin in the Sun – January 26th – 28th and February 2nd – 4th
• God’s Trombones – June 14th – 16th and 21st – 23rd
