Six arrested in Roe V. Wade protest identified

The names of those arrested during a weekend protest in the Upstate have now been released. A total of 6 people were arrested during a rally against the overturning of Roe Vs. Wade Saturday in downtown Greenville. Monday morning, the Greenville Police Department released the names of the 6 arrested and the charges against them.

Four of those 6 have the same last name. 62 year old Nan Giordano 61 year old Anthony, 26 year old Maggie and 23 year old Chloe. The other two arrested were 62 year old, Joanne Schmidt and 22 year old, Reese Madden. 5 of the 6 were charged with Interfering With Police, Four were also charged with Pedestrian In The Roadway.

Reese Madden was the only one of the 6 to be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Anthony Giordano was the lone protester arrested for Resisting Arrest. All 6 have been given a court date and have been released from custody.

There have been complaints and allegations that Greenville Police Officers used excessive force during Saturday's protest. Sgt. Jonathan Bragg says Saturday's events are under an internal review that will focus on how the officers responded and their use of force. Bragg says the review is standard protocol for these types of situations. The Police Dept. would not give any further response when asked about the allegations of using excessive force.
