Controversy abounds around a North Carolina high school after a social media video went viral showing a student yelling a racial slur.
Officials say a student at West Lincoln High School in Lincolnton said in a statement that the group in the video were student athletes.
The roughly 10 second video showed a group of five students in a garage while one yelled a racial slur, twice after being prompted by another member of the group.
The video was posted on Facebook around 12PM Monday and as of Tuesday morning had over 120,000 views.
