The Highway Patrol reports a man on a motorcycle has died in a collision just after 8PM Thursday. Troopers say that head-on collision occurred on Highway 183 near Gilbert Drive, just north of Walhalla.
The Oconee County Coroner's Office has identified the biker as 49 year old Steven Paul Henderson of Duncan. Henderson was a captain with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
His 2008 Harley Davidson crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Chevrolet SUV head on. Henderson was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was injured and taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
