The State Ethics Commission says it finds probable cause to take action on all of the complaints filed against former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright.

In the words of a Commission spokesman to the Spartanburg Herald Journal its case against Wright "will move forward."  The investigation was triggered when Wright's son Andy, being hired for a Sheriff's Office job.

The nepotism complaint was filed by former Sheriff's Office Corporal Nick Duncan, who later ran unsuccessfully for the office Wright vacated.

The Sheriff first took a leave of absence on April first amid reports that he was undergoing treatment for prescription drug abuse and that SLED was investigating whether fraudulent charges were made on Wright's county-issued credit card.

The "probable cause" finding required six Commission members to agree that state ethics laws were broken. More information on the decision and where the case goes for here is due for release on Thursday.

A resolution typically involves a consent order, filed in court, in which the Commission, and the person named in the complaint, agree on a settlement.
