State officials are making efforts to expand broadband internet coverage to rural and underserved areas of South Carolina. Governor McMaster and U.S. Congressman Jim Clyburn held a press conference Tuesday to announce the launch of the "Get Connected SC" program.

It marks the next part of the state's plan to expand broadband coverage and bring it to more households statewide. Officials will start a tour of 26 cities and towns around the state, next month. That tour will serve as an opportunity for state officials to get feedback from the public.
Vice President Kamala Harris has taken an interest in the increase of high speed internet coverage. She's set to visit Columbia Monday to share the progress being made nationally to boost broadband connectivity.
