Two Upstate counties are listed among the worst statewide for human trafficking. On Monday, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson released the state's annual report on Human trafficking. The study shows that Greenville and Spartanburg Counties ranked in the list of 5 worst in the state, Richland, Horry and Charleston made up the rest of group.
Wilson says, the data collected shows a concerning major upswing in related incidents. The Human Trafficking Task Force was formed at the state level 10 years ago.
Kathryn Moorehead serves as the Task Force Director she said " “Members of the State Task Force continue to bring awareness of human trafficking in communities across our state". In 2023, we will be rolling out new initiatives including increased labor trafficking awareness campaigns.”
