One of the lesser-talked-about races South Carolina voters will decide in November is the race for State Superintendent of Education. Incumbent Republican Ellen Weaver faces Democrat Sylvia Wright and United Citizens Party candidate Baba Amin Ojuok in next month’s general election.
Weaver joined the Charlie James Show Thursday afternoon, discussing one of the accomplishments, she says has been among the most significant during her time in office. Weaver said "We had our highest ever literacy scores, reading is the foundation of all other learning".
Weaver was sworn into office in January 2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Bob Jones University. The election is set for November 3rd.
