The highest court in the land is set to make a decision regarding South Carolina's newest congressional district map. Arguments in front of the U.S. Supreme Court concluded Wednesday morning in the case of Alexander vs the South Carolina NAACP.

When the new districts were enacted the state's NAACP conference and an individual voter, Taiwan Scott challenged the changes. The plaintiffs in the case cited that the new map was drawn to move black voters out of certain districts, thus limiting their voting power as a community.

Back in January, a three judge panel voted unanimously that South Carolina's General Assembly did indeed target black voters in the re-drawing of district lines.

After arguments concluded the plaintiffs held a press conference to highlight the importance the upcoming ruling will have on voting rights.
