A suspect is in custody after being accused of assaulting deputies in Western North Carolina, last month. The McDowell County Sheriff's Office says 23 year old Manuel Valdez Jr. is charged with resisting arrest, assaulting government officials and malicious conduct by a prisoner.
The charges stem from an incident on December 10th in which deputies responded to a domestic disturbance between Valdez and a woman at a home in the town of Old Fort. The Sheriff's Office says Valdez assaulted a deputy and tried to flee on foot.
As Deputies then tried to put him under arrest, Valdez reportedly assaulted a 2nd deputy before he was taken into custody.
