The suspect accused of attacking and injuring his elderly mother in law at her Upstate home has been denied bond. As we previously reported, 51 year old Douglas Stewart was arrested after a stabbing at a home in Blacksburg, Tuesday night.
The victim was his 74 year old mother in law, Patricia Wilkins. In Stewart's bond hearing Thursday, the victim's family told the judge she was stabbed 14 times in the attack. Wilkins identified Stewart as her attacked and described his vehicle and how he entered the house. She also claimed that Stewart pistol whipped her while she was sleeping to start the attack.
Stewart claims he is innocent and can prove he wasn't at his mother-in-law's house at the time of the incident. He remains in custody on charges of attempted murder and a weapons violation. Stewart is due back in court in August.
