A suspect is dead after a deputy involved shooting in the Upstate, this Thursday Afternoon. Greenville County Deputies assisted the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office in locating a wanted suspect.
The suspect was tracked to the area of Cannon Street in Greer. When deputies arrived, they encountered an armed suspect. That's when a deputy involved shooting transpired.
The suspect was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene. The five deputies involved have been paid on administrative leave. SLED is investigating which is standard protocol for officer involved shootings statewide.
The suspect has been identified as, 51 year old Johnny Andrew Collins.
