A suspect is dead after an apparent suicide following a law enforcement involved shooting at an Upstate home, Wednesday. The Spartanburg Police Department responded to provide back up for a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Deputy who was serving civil papers on a suspect, around 12 PM Wednesday at a home on Belmarc Drive.
A man then reportedly shot at officers and the deputy. The suspect then ran back inside the home and again fired on officers and they returned fire. After a brief pause in the gunfire, officers heard another shot from inside the home.
When officers were able to see inside the house, they found a man suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
SLED has been called into investigate, which is standard protocol in officer involved shootings. It's the second such incident in Spartanburg County, this week.
