The suspect that died in a deputy involved shooting over the weekend after reportedly threatening people has been identified. As we previously reported, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to Kmart Plaza around 2:15AM, Saturday morning.
Upon arrival deputies encountered a suspect later identified as, 21 year old, Dazaina Kian'te Lewis. She reportedly threatened a deputy with a knife and a deputy fired on her.
Lewis was hit and was transported to the hospital, where she later died. SLED is investigating which is standard protocol in officer involved shootings, statewide.
The Deputies involved have been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
