A suspect is in custody after a police chase that spanned multiple Western North Carolina counties. The pursuit began Tuesday morning in Madison County when the driver refused to stop for deputies and officers from the Mars Hill Police Department.
The chase then entered Yancey County around 11:30 AM. Responding deputies and officers were able to stop the suspect driver and took him into custody near Highway 19 and Pate Road.
The driver has been identified as, 38 year old Donovan Patrick Williams of Greenville, North Carolina. The Yancey County Sheriff's Office says Williams faces a long list of drug charges following the incident.
He also had outstanding warrants out of Lenoir, North Carolina. Williams has been transported to Madison County where additional charges against him are pending.
