A suspect is in custody after leading police on a chase and hitting a police vehicle. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says a deputy spotted a stolen truck on East Main Street in Spartanburg, around 3PM Saturday.
The Spartanburg Police Department was then called into assist. When an officer tried to make a traffic stop, the driver led them on a chase.
The suspect later identified as Matthew Scott Roberson then reportedly crashed into a K-9 vehicle on purpose, as it tried blocking him in.
The dog and the officer were not injured in the crash. Roberson kept driving and hit a downed power line and crashed. Roberson then tried to flee foot and was apprehended.
He's charged with failure to stop, assault, receiving stolen goods and other crimes.
