An interstate police chase that began in North Georgia ended in the Upstate, on Monday afternoon. The Lavonia Police Department says a suspect identified as Eric Devitis was spotted there.
Police say Devitis was wanted on charges in the Atlanta area. When police in Lavonia approached, Devitis then led them on a chase. The pursuit crossed over the state line and into Anderson County where deputies there joined in and helped bring the suspect vehicle to a forced stop.
Devitis then refused to get out of the vehicle, a K9 and a taser was used to get him into custody. The Lavonia PD says Devitis faces additional charges of aggravated assault and eluding police stemming from today's incident.
